چکیده

1. The 'somite centres*. Spratt (1955) put forward the idea that two 'somite centres' exist in the chick blastoderm and that these actively induce the formation of somites. His evidence is based mainly on a series of transection experiments. 2. HenserCs node. This theory is based on the results of experiments in which the node is damaged or extirpated (e.g., Peebles, 1898; Wetzel, 1929; Fraser, 1954). The literature already contains evidence against this theory. 3. The neural tissue. This theory, which has been put forward by various authors (e.g. Griinwald, 1936; Fraser, 1960), is based on the fact that neural tissue and somites are usually closely associated.

The Effect of chick Embryonic Somites on Neural Rosette Formation in Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells

purpose: The aim of the present study is to understand if EBs can generate neural rosette upon co-culture with chick embryo somites. Materials and Methods: The mouse ES cells, line Royan Bl, were cultured in hanging drops to induce embryoid bodies (EBs) formation. Somites were isolated from the chick embryos and then embedded in alginate solution. Finally, alginate beads containing somites were...

Effect of retinoic acid on neural tube development in chick embryo

retinoic acid is one of the derivatives of vitamin A.it is used for treatment of dermatitis, but it has different teratogenic effects on developing organs depending on the different stages of embryonic life.neural  tube is made of two different parts:primary neural tube originated from embryo germinal layer and and secondary neural tube originated from tail bud.the persent study was designed to ...

Brachial muscles in the chick embryo: the fate of individual somites.

The wing and wing-associated muscles of the shoulder and thorax in the bird all cleave from common myogenic masses in the developing wing bud and are referred to collectively as brachial muscles. In this study the precise embryonic origin of the brachial muscles was determined using chick-quail chimaeras. Such chimaeras consisted of a graft of one somite taken from a 2-day quail donor embryo tr...

Myogenic specification in somites: induction by axial structures.

Specification of the myogenic phenotype in somites was examined in the early chick embryo using organotypic explant cultures stained with monoclonal antibodies to myosin heavy chain. It was found that myogenic specification (formation of muscle fibers in explants of somites or segmental plates cultured alone) does not occur until Hamburger and Hamilton stage 11 (12-14 somites). At this stage, o...

Somitomeres: mesodermal segments of vertebrate embryos.

Well before the somites form, the paraxial mesoderm of vertebrate embryos is segmented into somitomeres. When newly formed, somitomeres are patterned arrays of mesenchymal cells, arranged into squat, bilaminar discs. The dorsal and ventral faces of these discs are composed of concentric rings of cells. Somitomeres are formed along the length of the embryo during gastrulation, and in the segment...
